I like dogs. That's true. I do like dogs. Not that you will find any dogs Speed Dating in London - ha ha! I like pictures of dogs. I like photographs of dogs. I take dog photos sometimes too. Some dogs can be cute, some evil. I like all sorts of dogs, and I like dog portraits if the dog photography is done artistically.
Here are some pictures of some dogs I like;
I have always liked the phrase "it's a dog's life". It makes me smile. As if anyome would know what it is like to be a dog! Well anyway, dogs are one of the most popular pets in the world. There's a good reason why - they are loyal to a decent master, or a mistress for that matter. Class distinctions between people have no part in a dog's life. I hope you got my god awful joke there. Dogs are also very faithful. You may remember from your school days that Pompeii was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius erupting in 79 AD. Well, when Pompeii was finally excavated, they found evidence of a dog lying across a child, apparently trying to protect the youngster. How faithful is that?
Dogs need to be trained though. Dogs need to be trained well. Pretty well any young dog can be trained to understand commands and do simple tricks. When the dog is trained well, it is conditioned to respond to your commands, noises, or gestures. Once you decide to train a puppy, however, you must be willing to stick with it until the puppy learns the task. One of the best ways to start dog training is for the owner to select a simple "call" name for the dog. The call name should be used frequently so the puppy can learn to recognise the sound of it.
Here's a good dog training tip for you. A dog training session is best begun when your puppy is hungry because that is when it is most alert. Also, the owner can reinforce the dog's correct responses to commands with a little dog treat. A hungry dog is more apt to associate the correct performance of a task with a food reward, and thus become a well trained dog.
You should go easy on training a young dog. Wait until a puppy is at least three months old before trying to teach it tricks, but you really should teach it the meaning of "no" at an earlier age. The young dog must be corrected vocally and forcefully each time it does something that you disapprove of. If you are consistent, the dog soon learns by your tone of voice what makes you pleased and when it does wrong in your eyes. Formal dog training sessions should entail no more than fifteen minutes of work at a time, and they should never tire the dog. That's hard for some people, but I guess it's harder for the dogs. That's all for now on dog training and I hope you've learnt something new about dog training.
